About the artist
Corinne Galla currently resides in Central Georgia. She received
her B.A. in Apparel Design from the American College of Art in
Atlanta, where she concentrated her studies in the areas of
drafting and pattern making. After many years spent working in a
family business, Corinne is actively pursuing an art career.
A few years ago,Corinne decided to take part in a local figure
drawing open studio, and soon after began working in many
different  mediums. "I went on my first
plein air trip in October
that year. I hadn't put brush to canvas since my parents sent me
to painting lessons as a grade-schooler."
She has been steadily working, alternating from oils to pastels to acrylics, and with
figurative works becoming her preference.
Most recently, Corinne has been involved in creating works in encaustic, a
beeswax and oil pigment medium which has its roots in the art of Ancient Greece.
She was inspired by the abstract encaustic works of another local artist and
began participating in informal workshops on encaustic art. "It can be a very
unforgiving medium at times, but it's such a departure for me and I really enjoy
the challenge."
